Vines used to be plowed four times a year. I stopped using this system in 1993 given it showed two significant drawbacks: the vine was too vigorous and manual vine work in wet weather was difficult and burdensome. Grassing between the rows of vines enable decreasing vine’s strength, what lead to lower yields but more concentrated grapes. It also enables easing pruning works and winter works.
