Merlot

At Clos du Roy, as well as at Château Roc Meynard, soils are made of limestone and clay, with a dominant proportion of clay. This kind of soils is particularly suited for Merlot wine grape, which produces deep garnet color structured wines with nice acidities and fit for ageing. Merlot wine grape accounts for 85% of the vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc respectively complete the remaining 10% and 5%. Our current trends are to bring more diversity by replanting Cabernet Franc and squashing Malbec.

The white wines of Chateau Roc Meynard are produced from 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Sémillon
